Tie Dye Loven'

Tie, twist and dye. One or the oldest dyeing techniques is making its next big come back. Maneuvering its way into our closets and soon into our home furnishing. Tie-dye became popular in the 70’s amongst the counter culture aka hippies. Hippies wanted a way to escape from the strict social norm, and tie-dye was just one way of expressing their free-spirited nature. It was later brought back and revamped in the 90’s with grunge and is now on trend for summer 2016.
Here are a few key tips to keep in mind:
  • If you’re not ready to commit to a loud and bright tie-dyed print. Take small steps. Try an accessory like a scarf, hat, shoes, socks, or even woven bracelets.
  • Wear it one item at a time and carry one primary color through your entire outfit. For instance if you have a blue tie dye top keep a neutral bottom with blue accents in your shoes and accessories.
  • Allow the tie-dye to be the focal point and build your look around it.
  • If you want to look “effortlessly chic” rather than “cool hipster” try a sophisticated approach and stick to two-color palate. Think darker or neutral hues.
  • Have fun and wear your tie-dye with confidence!
